How to bulk generate QR Codes from a CSV or spreadsheet
Put one link per row in a spreadsheet, export it as CSV without a header row, paste or upload it into a bulk QR Code tool, generate the codes, and download them as a ZIP. Then scan a few from the batch on two phones before printing.
1. Build the list in a spreadsheet
Put one item per row. Column A is what the QR Code will contain (usually a full link starting with https://). Column B is optional: a short file name for each code, without spaces.
| A: content | B: file name |
|---|---|
| https://example.com/menu?table=1 | table-1 |
| https://example.com/menu?table=2 | table-2 |
Export it as CSV (in Google Sheets: File → Download → Comma-separated values; in Excel: Save As → CSV UTF-8). Delete the header row first. Many tools, StyloQR included, treat every line as a code, so a header like link, name would become a QR Code of its own.
2. Check the links before you generate
A QR Code just stores text. If a link has a typo, every copy of that code carries the typo. Open three or four random links from the list, and use short, stable links where you can: shorter content makes a less dense code that is easier to scan.
3. Pick one style for the whole batch
Choose dark codes on a light background with strong contrast, a single dot style, and, if you want, a simple logo. Consistency is the point of a batch: it should look like one set.
4. Generate and download
Paste the list (or upload the CSV) into a bulk tool and generate. You should get one image per row, ideally in a single ZIP, with file names that match your second column.
Doing it with StyloQR
- Install the StyloQR Chrome extension.
- Open the Style tab and set your colors, shapes, and logo.
- Open the Batch tab, paste your list or upload the CSV, and click Generate QR Codes.
- Download the ZIP: one PNG per code, up to 200 per batch.
Batch generation is part of StyloQR Pro, a one-time payment of $9.90. Single codes are free. More details on the bulk generator page.
5. Test before you print
- Scan at least three codes from the batch with two different phones.
- Print one sample at the final size and scan it from the distance people will use.
- Only then print the whole run.
Limits to know about
- These are static codes: you cannot change a code's destination after printing it. If you need that, you need dynamic codes from a different kind of tool.
- If you have more than 200 rows, split the list into several batches.
Frequently asked questions
Can I bulk generate QR Codes from an Excel file?
Yes. Save the sheet as CSV first, delete the header row, and upload or paste it into the bulk tool.
What is the best format for printing?
PNG is fine for most uses at a large enough size. For very large prints, a vector format such as SVG is safer; single codes in StyloQR can be exported as SVG.
